MMAP has commissioned three artist's projects to be realized in the mid-market neighborhood of San Francisco in April-May 2012. Each project will be located on Market Street, between 5th and 8th, occupying different areas of 'idle' spaces- whether it be the interior of a building, a boarded up exterior, or the sidewalk in front of a vacant storefront.

Each project is distinct, but they all address MMAP's interests in 'idle' spaces, 'cultural development' and 'urban renewal.' How do the arts fuel change in cities? What is the role of the arts in urban revitalization? How can the arts critically assess municipal 'progress' and in turn offer a new perspective?

MMAP invites you to learn more about each project and attend our exhibition opening on Market Street in late March. Follow our progress and each project's process on our blog here.

We look forward to meeting you soon.
